Nutrition and Wellness

Maple Bear Academy enthusiastically endorses the importance of early childhood nu- trition. Nutrition affects their ability to learn, communicate, think, socialize and adapt to new people and environments. Poor nutrition can impede behavioral and cognitive de- velopment, leading to difficulties in school and in forming positive relationships with others. Good nutrition is also a child’s first line of defense against disease. When developing our weekly menu, we choose to follow the standards set forth by the U.S.D.A, CACFP (United States Department of Agriculture, Child and Adult Care Food Program).

Maple Bear does not have a rotating menu. We are always varying our selections to keep it healthy and exciting for children. Children are encouraged to try new foods and discour- aged from wasting. Children are always permitted to ask for more and receive additional servings.

Our goal is to expose children to a wide variety of healthy and delicious foods. This pro- motes taste bud development leading to love for wholesome foods and instilling aware- ness about the importance of nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

 

 

About our Menu

• We are never discouraged by picky eaters and encourage children to try new foods.
• Children are encouraged to feed and serve themselves, family style
• Children are seated for meals and snacks
• Adults will act as role models sitting with children, encouraging conversation and discuss- ing healthy eating, healthy foods and diverse cultures.
